Select one of the following:

1. How are trees harvested and replaced?
Several different systems are used. Use the Atlas, the internet and your library to:
   (a) Write a report that explains how trees are harvested and replaced. Be sure to draw some pictures that show how the systems are different.
   (b) Make a forestry poster for the bulletin hoard. Using pictures, show the several ways that trees are harvested and replaced.
2. How are trees made into Iumber?
Use the Atlas, the internet and your library to:
   (a) Write a report that follows one tree (your tree) from the forest to the sawmill. Add pictures to your report.
   (b) Make a poster that shows how logs are cut into boards.
